Maintenance PLC Technician

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Performs root cause analysis of equipment, part, and process issues then implements or recommends solution. Improve equipment reliability and machine performance by assisting in the implementation of effective preventive maintenance procedures and performing redesign or systems upgrades. Performs advance troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated machines, stand along assembly equipment and auxiliary equipment related to production. Also perform maintenance and repair of facility related equipment and structures. Trains lower level technicians in all areas of equipment repair and maintenance. Demonstrates behavior that is consistent with the company's values of Customer Satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Technical Leadership: Leads effort in resolving manufacturing floor issues related to equipment readiness and process compatibility. Performs root cause analysis then implements or recommends solution to ensure production goal is met.
  • Equipment Reliability and Machine Improvement: Assist in implementing effective preventive maintenance procedures. Improves machine performance through reengineering. May require implementing redesign and fabrication of new parts; replacing outdated or obsolete component with modern component; editing PLC program and servo, robotic, or motor control parameters.
  • Performs advance troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Trains lower level technicians in all areas of equipment repair and maintenance. Provides feedback on their technical abilities and performance.
  • Seeks to improve own skill level.
  • Generates and implements equipment maintenance procedures.

Position Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Industry certificate(s) or equivalent training from a technical school is preferred.
  • 10 years experience in a related field.
  • Excellent mechanical skills with knowledge of mold processing theory, electronic, and mold operations theory, typically acquired through two years of related experience.
  • Have excellent customer service skills. Maintain positive, cooperative, and professional attitude while focusing on serving internal customers. Understands customer needs and expectations.
  • Have strong organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Be adaptable to change.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills to work as member of a team. Possess the ability to teach and pass on skills and knowledge to others.
  • Have the ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Able to read and interpret ladder logic diagrams. Have ability to write and modify PLC programs using a PC interface.
  • Have computer literacy to be able to use CMMS, electronic mail communication, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments (electrical metering equipment, multi-meters, calipers, and gauge pins, etc.).
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
  • Adheres to all company and departmental safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or varying hours as necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper level work area.
  • Ability to push and pull with the arms and body to move items on two-wheeled dolly, four-wheeled cart, and hydraulic pallet jack.
  • Ability to stand and walk to perform machine and equipment inspections and to perform needed repairs and adjustments.
  • Ability to sit on a minimal basis to complete documentation on machine and equipment breakdowns.
  • Ability to work in a variety of positions (bending, kneeling, crouching, lying on back) to gain access to areas on machines.
  • Ability to climb up and down a step stool to gain access to areas on machines with rare use of a stepladder.
  • Manual dexterity, hand strength and coordination sufficient to grasp and use power equipment and hand tools and to handle a variety of parts.
  • Finger dexterity sufficient to use precision measuring instruments, to manipulate nuts, bolts, screws and other small components and to complete paperwork activities.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform machine and equipment inspections and to perform needed repairs and adjustments on machines and equipment.
  • Hearing sufficient to analyze machine sounds and to communicate with individuals.
  • Must be able to work in both hot and cold conditions, both in and out of the facility.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the facility to obtain information needed to perform job functions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
