Illustrative Duties
This is routine manual labor work involving skills in various grounds maintenance and exterior custodial tasks in and around the Neil Combee Administration Building and Bartow Courthouse area. Employees in this class perform laborious tasks requiring acquired skills in the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment for the grounds maintenance and exterior maintenance of facilities. Employers in this class are responsible for the upkeep and efficient operation of the tools for equipment used. Instructions are received orally or in written form and routine tasks are performed with considerable independence.
Perform labor activities such as:
mowing, trimming, edging, laying sod, planting trees/plants, fertilizing, sprinkler repair, and removal of trash. Physical work in the housekeeping and domestic tasks around buildings or property. Clean up of grounds and areas surrounding the building. Ability to perform various labor tasks in all weather conditions and environmental situations. Additional related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed appropriate by an administrative manager.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Ability to stand, bend, squat, stoop, and climb stairs and ladders. Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills/Ability to lift, pull and/or push up to forty five (45) pounds. Ability to perform physical/manual laborer tasks. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to identify maintenance needs, complete minor repairs, and communicate with fellow employees, supervisors, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
No experience is required
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment within this classification.
Must complete a physical and may be able to pass a national background check, mandated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, to include a one-line security training.
Special Requirements
In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or manmade disaster that may threaten or impact the area, full time, permanent employees may be required to assist in performance of essential functions as described in the Polk County Emergency Management Plan.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
