Major Functions
Coordinates and implements marketing, sales and promotional activities for tourism/sports marketing that generate overnight stays in Polk County accommodations and create economic impact in Polk County.
Assists the Sponsorship Sales Manager in the sales of Polk County Tourism & Sports Marketing corporate partnerships, special events and advertising. Assists with the marketing and promotion of tourism/sports initiative and special events that increase overnight stays, enhancing the economic climate in Polk County.
Illustrative Duties
Assists the Sales and Events Manager with coordination and implementation of the tourism/sports marketing sales plan. Implements Sales and Marketing client services and agreements. Coordinates event marketing, promotions, operations, and services. Manages post conference, convention and trade show recruiting operations and client relations. Assists with sales efforts by coordinating sales missions in target markets. Responsible for assisting the Sales and Event Manager with budgeting, financial control and analysis of special events promotions.
Management of client database, data mining and electronic marketing. Assists sales staff with generating and qualifying leads using tourism computer database and other sales methods. Prepares follow up reports, analysis and information.
Assists the Sales and Events Manager in the coordination and operations of Polk County owned and co-owned special events, including but not limited to securing venues, volunteer recruitment, completion of special event bid applications, on-site special event set-up and management.
Assists with the management of special event budgets including:
revenue projections, expenses and value in-kind. Negotiates and secures room blocks and rates for special events, conferences and meetings held in Polk County.
Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Abilities And Skills
Knowledge of sales, marketing, public relations and communications technique and methods. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees, clients, business representatives and the public. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to make public speaking presentations.
Ability to conceive, design, formulate and prepare informational data, analyze data, reports and survey information. Ability to use independent judgment, analyze information and formulate recommendations.
Ability to prepare budgets and tactical sales strategies. Ability to coordinate and plan meetings, conference and special events.
Skilled in word processing.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in business, marketing, public relations or related field, or have a minimum of four (4) years sales, marketing or business related experience.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.
A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
