Eligibility Specialist
Major Functions
Interview, assess and investigate for eligibility the needs of indigent county residents for assistance through fieldwork or office interviews for medical assistance available through the Polk Healthcare Plan, Member & Social Services Section.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Working knowledge of interviewing techniques and relevant program policies. Basic knowledge of Federal State, County and community social services programs for which individuals may be eligible including eligibility requirements, application procedures, and other relevant program policies or ability to learn such. Ability to become familiar with other social services agencies and resources. Ability to correctly apply applications laws regulations, and policies to individual cases. Skill in interviewing to identify needs. Skills in dealing with individuals under stressful conditions.
Minimum qualifications
High School Graduate. Preference for individuals with some college with major course work in Social Work, Sociology, Phycology or a related field and have a minimum of two years social services interviewing or related experience.
My possess a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
