School Bus Driver Position Overview:
Sunshine Enterprise is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a School Bus Driver.
As a certified school bus driver in the state of Florida, you will play a crucial role in transporting students to and from school safely and efficiently.
Your primary responsibility will be to operate a school bus in compliance with state and local regulations, ensuring the well-being of students during their transportation.
This position requires a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements and adherence to Florida's specific certification requirements for school bus drivers.
Responsibilities:
Safe Operation of School Bus:
Safely operate a school bus following predetermined routes and schedules, ensuring the timely arrival and departure of students.
Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including those specific to school bus operation in Florida.
Follow established procedures for student loading and unloading, always ensuring their safety and well-being.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure mechanical soundness and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Compliance with Florida Regulations:
Maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements required for school bus operation (e.
g.
, Passenger and School Bus endorsements).
Meet all certification requirements set by the Florida Department of Education for school bus drivers, including completion of training programs and periodic recertification.
Stay updated with Florida's laws and regulations related to school bus transportation and adhere to all guidelines concerning driver conduct, safety protocols, and student transportation.
Communication and Collaboration:
Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, school administrators, and transportation staff.
Interact professionally and courteously with all passengers, responding to inquiries and concerns promptly and appropriately.
Collaborate with school staff and transportation personnel to address any issues or changes related to bus routes, schedules, or student transportation needs.
Report any incidents, accidents, or disciplinary problems to appropriate authorities and maintain accurate documentation as required.
Student Safety and Welfare:
Ensure the well-being and safety of students during transportation, including the proper use of safety restraints and emergency evacuation procedures.
Be alert to and address any potential hazards or dangerous situations on or around the school bus.
Aid students with special needs or disabilities, following individualized plans and accommodations as necessary.
Maintain a positive and respectful environment on the bus, promoting good behavior and appropriate conduct among students.
Qualifications:
Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (Passenger and School Bus endorsements).
Florida Department of Education certification as a school bus driver.
Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents.
Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
Ability to maintain composure and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, school staff, and transportation personnel.
